You wrote a very good comment on Tuna's presentation. I totally agree with you and the article that Tuna presented in class. A good translator should be professional in not only the target language but also the source language. So that he or she can express the feelings very well from one language to another language. Sentence and utterance, text and discourse differences are very good point while translating. If we know the differences as Tuna stated in her presentation will help us to translate better, however to be a good translator we should go far beyond it. In Tuna’s presentation, the most important thing for me is that, equivalence in translation is important and we should not forget it in any kind of translation. When somebody wants to do make a translation professionally, he or she should know what a translation is in the first step.

Meryem Luleci’s reflection on Hazal Kok’s presentation
Hazal made her presentation on Practice of Translation in Turkey. Meryem gave a detailed comment and summary on her presentation. Yes, the videos that Hazal showed in her presentation were very well chosen and related to her topic. I would like to add some other important points about Hazal’s presentation that she mentioned,
üKnowing foreign language as his native language.
üThe importance of culture and art, love of books
üBeing altruistic
üBeing an expert on any areas
These are all important points that she mentioned in her presentation for the questions; How a good translator should be? What characteristics they should have?
Also the issue about how much money a translator gains was very interesting, too. So that mean that someone should be a translator because he or she likes it and not for the money because both of you also mentioned that it is a kind of pocket money.
